Lucy Jane Adams was the fifth child and second girl born to Isom Adams and Lydia Bilyeu Adams. She was born in the Prairieton Township area of Christian County. She was a half-sister to Isabelle (Gorden) and a sister to Ellington Adams (who died in infancy), Josiah Adams, Elizabeth (Avery/Crews), John A. Adams, Sarah (Mathes), Virenda (Bilyeu), Wilben Adams, James Adams, Minerva (Evans/Robbins/Snell), Thomas Jefferson Adams, Malinda (Bilyeu) and Isom Adams II. She married James B. Workman.
