Edwin H. Allerdings, 55, Wessington died Friday, July 15, 1983 at Ivinson Memorial Hospital, Laramie, WY as the result of a construction accident.

Edwin Herbert Allerdings was born June 5, 1928 at Akaska, South Dakota, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George (Barbara Spitzer) Allerdings. He moved with his parents to the Lebanon area where he attended rural school.

He served in the United States Army during 1946-1948. After leaving the service, he lived in South Dakota, Minnesota and California.

He married Betty Joy Arbogast, daughter of Chester and Esther (Campbell) Arbogast of St. Lawrence, February 20, 1959 at Pierre. They lived mostly in the St. Lawrence area where he drove a truck for Albert Bertsch. In 1967 they moved to a farm northeast of Wessington.

He graduated from American High School in 1972.

In 1976 they moved to Wessington. He had been a foreman for Distributing Construction Company, Huron.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Douglas, Magnolia, MN and David, Wessington; two daughters, Debra Allerdings, Pierre and Mrs. Jerry (Delora) Caffee, Wessington Springs; a grandson; his mother of Tolstoy; five brothers, Arthur, Rueben, Harold and Leslie, all of Huron and Marvin, Doland; two sisters, Mrs. Alex (Edna) Vail, Spearfish and Lydia Allerdings, Tolstoy.

He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers, Arthur and Leo and two sisters, Erna Ronan and O'Tillie Allerdings.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 19 at the First Presbyterian Church, Wessington with the Rev. Earl Estill officiating. Burial was in the Wessington Cemetery with military rites.

Active pallbearers were Roger Sargent, Roy Whitney, David Lanz, Tom Casavan, Marvin Ganske and Doug DuBois.

Honorary pallbearers were Lawrence Ruhnke, Ole Harrell, Albert Bertsch, John Stobbs, Floyd Rex and Vernon Koch.
