Lawrence Buskey Dies, Former Bristol Official
BRISTOL (Special)--Lawrence Buskey, 72, of North Thetford, Vt., a former member of the Bristol City Council, died Friday at a hospital in Hanover, N.H. after an illness.
He was born in Bristol and retired in Vermont in 1961 after having served as superintendent and manager of West Cemetery since$(sic) 1944. He previously had worked at the Ingrahamn Co.
A Republican and chairman of the Fifth District Republican Committee, he represented that district on the City Council for a number of years. He was a past president of the Connecticut Cemetery Assn. He also served on the Board of Police Commissioners. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Helen Bowen Buskey; two daughters, Mrs. Jeanne Di Pietro of Bristol and Mrs. Elida Naylor of Fort Bragg, S.C.; a brother, Kendall M. Buskey of Alburg, Vt.: two sisters, Miss Winifred Busky(sic) of Brooklyn, Conn., and Mrs. Tessa Downs of Bristol; and seven grandchildren.
He was a charter member of the Bristol Kiwanis Club and a member of Bristol Baptist Church, the Independent Order of Red Men and Franklin Lodge, AF and AM.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Barnes Memorial Chapel in West Cemetery with the Rev. Holger N. Schluntz, pastor of Bristol Baptist Church, officiating. Friends may call at the young Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
