May Chambers Dies At Iowa City
Services Held Monday At Wright, Minnesota
Was Gold Star Mother
Services were held Monday at Wright, Minn., for Mrs. May Chambers, long time Sibley resident, who died Wednesday night at University Hospital, Iowa City at the age of 78. Burial was in the family plot at the side of her husband and two sons.
Since last September she had been ill with cancer. For several seeks she was a patient at the Osceola Hospital and was later admitted to University Hospital, Iowa City, where she was hospitalized for a month.
Born at Atlantic, Iowa, she came to Sibley with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jim Durfee, at an early age and it was here that she grew to womanhood.
For many years she was affiliated with the American Legion Auxiliary, of which she was an honored Gold Star Mother. Her son, Charles Chambers died during World War I.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lon Chambers, and two Sons, Charles and Roy, who passed away two years ago.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Sieber of Lebanon, Oregon, and three brothers, L.J. Durfee of Sibley, Lloyd Durfee of Mitchell, Nebraska, and Guy Durfee of Massena, Iowa. She also leaves several grandchildren.

Mrs. A. F. Chambers was also a longtime resident of Wright, MN from 1911 when she moved from Iowa with her husband and family.
