Ida was the daughter of John David & Mary Jane (Ussery) Potter.

She married Robert J. Norton in Parker Co, TX on April 5, 1885. Their children were: Annie, Leroy, Josephine, Mary Belle, & Ida.

Ida died from heart related problems at 10:30 a.m. on April 11, 1944. She had lived 77 years, 6 months, & 15 days.

"MOTHER OF FORMER ABILENION IS DEAD
Mrs. R.J. Norton, 77, mother of Mrs. Temple Black, formerly of Abilene, died in Weatherford Tuesday morning, Funeral will be held Wednesday in the Weatherford First Grace Presbyterian Church with the Rev. R.N. Ohman officiating. Burial will be in Weatherford under direction of White funeral home.

A pioneer of Weatherford, Mrs. Norton's husband was the first while child born in Weatherford. She is survived by four daughters; Mrs. Black of Weatherford, who lived in Abilene before her husband entered service, Mrs. O. L. Sims of Paint Rock, Mary Bell Norton and Mrs. J.A. Pickard both of Weatherford and one son, L.R. Norton, also of Weatherford."
