Mildred was born August 11, 1924 in Muncie, IN, to the late Vernon and Eunice Adams.
She graduated from Muncie Central High School and went on to earn her Masters Degree in Education from Ball State University. She worked as the reading program director for the Muncie Community Schools. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Muncie. She was also a member and past president of Pi Lambda Theta, and educational and honor society sorority. She enjoyed traveling and was very devoted to her family.
Mildred is survived by two children, Jacqueline Powers (husband-Philip) of Fortville, IN, and Charles Wolter (wife-Patricia Kehoe) of Madison, WI; a daughter-in-law, Linda Wolter of Muncie; four grandchildren, Patrick Wolter (wife-Cari) of Fishers, IN, Kelley Deak of Columbus, IN, Anthony Strecker (wife-Melissa) of Anderson, IN, and Michael J. Wolter of Madison, WI; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Josephine Adams; a brother-in-law, Robert Wolter; and several nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death in 1991 by her loving husband of 47 years, William D. Wolter; and a son in 2007, Michael D. Wolter.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie. A graveside committal service will be 9 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Elm Ridge Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

A memorial service to celebrate Mildred's life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie, with Rev. Ronald Naylor officiating. Mildred was buried in Elm Ridge Memorial Park on November 30, 2011. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed toward Alzheimer's Association of Greater Indiana, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
