Per the Indiana Democrat August 1902, Mrs Elizabeth A Buterbaugh, having suffered with melancholia and great depression, committed suicide with a .32 caliber rifle while sitting in her orchard. The suicide note contained information that she was in great pain and could no longer go on in this condition.
