Eunice J. Carper, 79, Lewiston
Eunice Jane Carper, 79, a former resident of Wallowa and Troy, Ore., died Sunday evening at 5 at St. Joseph's Hospital. She had been a patient there since May 29. Death was attributed to heart failure.
She and her husband, the later Roy W. Carper, operated Roy's Flying A Service Station at Lewiston for several years. She was bookkeeper for the family-owned station.
Her home was at 3520 11th St.
Mrs. Carper was born June 23, 1901, at Troy, Ore., to George and Christie Courtney. She attended elementary and high school at Troy and later went to coleges at Pendleton and Spokane. She married Carper May 23, 1928, at La Grande and they moved Wallowa in 1942. In 1960, they moved to Lewiston.
She was a 6-year member of the Rebekah Carnation Lodge at Wallowa and was affiliated with the Christian church there.
Survivors include two sons, Vernon Carper of Lewiston and Bernard Carper of Hermiston, Ore., two brothers, Melvin Courtney of Lewiston and Arthur Courtney of Asotin; and eight granchildren.
Two sisters, Wilma Mallory and Elma Courtney, preceded her in death.
The funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Mountain View Chapel, with burial at Lewis-Clark memorial Gardens. The Rev. Frank Needles of the Clarkston First Christian Church will officiate. Mountain View Funeral Home of Lewiston is in charge of arrangements.
