He was born the son of the late Leo Baker and Ruby Wetzel Baker, on June 29, 1919 in Oregon County, Missouri and died November 5, 2011 in Thayer, Missouri.
He was united in marriage March 9, 1940 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to Violet Martha Sandridge, who preceded him in death April 18, 1998.
He is survived by four children, Ronald Baker, wife, Reba, Thayer, Missouri, Sherman Baker, wife, Reva, Thayer, Missouri, Patsy Hedden, husband, Jim, Mulvane, Kansas, and Michael Baker, Hot Springs, South Dakota; one brother, George Baker, Lakeview, California; thirteen grandchildren, Ronda, Christine, Tony, Grant, Travis, Kyle, Kelly, Brady, Trish, David, Joshua, Daniel, and Caleb; eighteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two children, Donald Baker and Carolyn Baker-Hodges; five siblings, Florence, Alta, Susie, Ray, and Garland.
He was a longtime member of Thayer Assembly of God Church, which he helped to build, and was a very active working member of the church. He loved to fish, hunt and work in his garden. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, and friend to many, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Burial will be in Thayer Cemetery.
