MRS. J. D. McCONNAUGHHAY

Mrs. J. D. McConnaughhay, for nearly forty years a resident of Pawnee county, died at the home of her son, J. W. McConnaughhay, at St. John, Friday, Aug. 16, 1918. For the past year Mrs. McConnaughhay had made her home with her son at St. John.

The funeral was held from the Christian church at Larned Saturday, August 17, 1918, conducted by the pastor, C. D. Walker, assisted by Rev. Richards, pastor of the Baptist church at St. John. Interment was in the family lot in Larned cemetery.

Susan Colliver was born August 26, 1838, in Nicholas county, Ky., and was aged 79 years, 11 months and 20 days at the time of her death.

She was married to James D. McConnaughhay, November 20, 1856. To this union were born five children: Nancy M. Stewart of Millersburg, Ky., John C. McConnaughhay of Larned, Kan., James W. McConnaughhay of St. John, Kan., Mary E. Harney of Cincinnati, Ohio, and one daughter, Martha M. McConnaughhay, died at the home in Larned in October, 1880.

In April, 1879, the family came to Pawnee county, where the deceased resided until April 1917, when she moved to St. John, where she remained until the time of her death. Mr. McConnaughhay died April 23, 1911.

Mrs. McConnaughhay accepted Christ and became a member of the Christian church when a young girl and remained true to the faith until death. She found the Bible a close companion, especially during her last days.
