James Ray May, Sr.

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Celebration of Life services for James Ray May, Sr, 73, will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Billy Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park, with full military honors. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Hill Crest Funeral Home.

Mr. May was a longstanding member of AA, his hobbies included playing golf and watching football.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry M. May, mother, Florence Gray May, brother, Harry (Buck) May, Jr; sister, Fain May Grizzle, and his first love and wife Helen M. May.

Survivors include his wife Jean Avery May; son, James R. May, Jr. and wife Nancy; daughters, Sheree Faires and husband Larry; Teresa Johnson and husband David; Gina Glisson and husband Tim; step-sons, Randy Avery and wife Lynette; Rick Avery and wife Sherri; Greg Avery and wife Kelly; sisters, Mary Brightwell, Deane Zagar, Lois Shaver, Reba Grider; special nephews, Bill May, Richard May; niece, Pat Pinger; mother-in-law, Helen L. Deniston; sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and numerous more loving family members.

Pallbearers will be members of the Barksdale Air Force Base Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donors choice.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Shreveport VA Medical Center doctors, nurses and VA pharmacist Penny Dickens, St. Joseph Hospice, Bill May, Richard May and Deane Zagar for all your love, support and compassion.
