OraNell "Cookie" Kelm, 62, of Brenham passed away Saturday, February 16, 2008. Services are set for 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Gay Hill with the Rev. Alan Kethan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 18, in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

OraNell was born July 29, 1945, as the first of nine children to Alfred and Irene Weiss Brinkmeyer in Brenham. She was baptized August 12, 1945, at the family home by the Rev. W. C. Poehlmann and was confirmed March 22, 1959, at Grace Lutheran Church in Brenham. She was a 1963 graduate of Brenham High School. On December 18, 1965, she married Freddie Kelm in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Houston. OraNell was a homemaker and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Gay Hill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie, on January 20, 1999; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Erwin and Emmie Kelm; grandparents, Edwin and Linda Weiss and Fritz and Mary Brinkmeyer; and nephew, Jeffrey Triolo.

Survivors include her parents, Alfred and Irene Brinkmeyer, of Katy, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven Kelm and Maggie Martinez and Ryan and Megan Kelm, all of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Russell Bentke of Somerville and Sharon and Lang Flisowski of Brenham; grandchildren, Raeann, Rachel and Raynie Bentke, Lexus Kelm, Kaitlin and Landon Flisowski and Reece and Makenna Kelm; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Linda Brinkmeyer of Houston, Glenn and Diane Brinkmeyer of Houston, Charles and Jacelle Brinkmeyer of Washington state, Gene and Kay Brinkmeyer of Houston and John and Kathy Brinkmeyer of Katy, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucile and Thomas Campbell, Linda Sue and Myron Triolo and Betty and Kent Underwood, all of Houston; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Betty Joyce and Clifford Carter of Iola, Texas, and Erwin Kelm Jr. of Brenham; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Kopeski, Scott Brinkmeyer, Thomas Triolo, Erin Brinkmeyer, Chad Brinkmeyer, Mark Brinkmeyer, Timothy Brinkmeyer, Jacob Brinkmeyer, Joshua Brinkmeyer and Kyle Brinkmeyer. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

The family is requesting that memorials be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Gay Hill or to Hospice Brazos Valley, 302 E. Blue Bell Road, Brenham, Texas 77833.
