James R. ANDERSON -- Parents, James c. and Dorcas (Key) Anderson. Born, Maryville, Tenn., March 28, 1886. Married, Myrtle Campbell, Jan. 3, 1917. Daughter: Virginia Beryle Maralyn. Educated, Elementary school High Maryville, Tenn., Blount Co. School, and Commercial College, Maryville, from which he was graduated 1909. Occupation: Justice of the Peace, 4th Judicial Township; City Judge, Maricopa, Calif.; Owner and proprietor, J. R. Anderson Insurance Agency, Maricopa. He was with the Maricopa 36 Oil Co., from 1910 to 1913 and with various oil companies in the Maricopa field until 1918. From 1918 to 1921 he was secretary of the Oil Workers Union at Maricopa. In 1921 he established the J. R. Anderson Insurance Agency and has operated and developed this business since then. He was elected Justice of the Peace, 4th Judicial Township in 1926 and re-elected in 1930, 1934, and 1938 and has been unopposed since the first election. He became City Judge of Maricopa in 1932 and still holds that position. Member: Maricopa Exchange Club of which he is a past president; West Side Oil Fields Co-ordinating Council early in 1938: West Side Cemetery Association of which he has been president since 1936; Executive Director West Side Oil Fields Community Chest since 1936; Kern County Council B. S. A.; Advisory Director, Kern County Chamber of Commerce, 1934-38; appointed to Board of Executive Directors, Kern County C. of C., 1939; Justices and Constables Association of California and was official delegate from Kern County at the Oakland Convention, 1939; Kern County Peace Officers Association since its organization Board of Directors Hospital Protective League; Board of Directors Kern County Preventorium; Board of Directors West Side Sportsman's Club; Kern County Fish and Game Protective Association.
