Moved to Palo Pinto in 1876 from Georgia. Brought his mother Jane C. Daniel, and two of his sisters, Frances Victoria and Virginia Houston (probably with her husband Ezekiel Beaty). Married Willie Ada Newman, and fathered 13 children.
Was witness in 1864 Civil War to Union Army passing Rome enroute to Atlanta. His father was James H. Daniel; no record of James can be found after the 1860 Federal Census.

Kept his vow never to return east again; in fact, no child remembers him going "east" even to Fort Worth!
