A pioneer resident of this community, Benjamin F. Hipple, passed away on Tuesday, December 28 at the Wadena Rest Home, at the the age of 84 years, 1 month and 8 days. His death was briefly mentioned in last week's issue of the Pioneer Journal.
He was born on November 20, 1864 at Coldwater, Michigan, and came to Minnesota when a small boy. He was married to Julia Hansen on July 11, 1891, and she preceded him in death on April 15, 1924.
Five children were born to this union. Henry and Albert died in infancy and Clifford passed away at the age of 19. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Anthony Aurzeda (Selma) of Wadena, and a son Archie Hipple. There are also four grandchildren, Russell, Roger, Jean and Janice Hipple of New York Mills. He also is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Carrie Smith of Wewoka, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Ethel Cardell of Boston, Mass. and one nephew, Alex Kuhus of Sebeka.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon of last week at two o'clock in the Wadena Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Peter Thompson officiating. Interment will be in made in the Leaf River cemetery
