Rev and Mrs Ervin Weaver will observe their golden wedding anniversary with an open house from 2-5 pm Saturday in the fellowship hall of the Church of the Brethren in Mexico, Ind.

Rev and Mrs Weaver were married Oct 3, 1911, near Bremen.

Rev Mr Weaver is a retired minister, serving mission churches in Illinois, Washington and Michigan. He held pastorates in Osceola, North Liberty, Bremen and in Ohio and Michigan.

He and Mrs Weaver served as superintendent and matron of the Mexico Welfare Home and since 1952 have been employed at the home, now known as the Church of the Brethren Home.

They have four living children, Mrs Pearl Singrey, of Elkhart, Mrs Robert Scantlen, of Coldwater, Mich, Eugene Weaver, of Livonia, Mich, and Mark Weaver, of Painesville, O. They have 14 grandchildren.

The Rev Ervin Weaver, 86, of Timbercrest Church of the Brethren Home, died at 11:15 am Friday, Nov 15 at Timbercrest after being ill several weeks.

Born Mar 26, 1888 in Marshall County to Benjamin and Sarah Troup Weaver, he spent his childhood at Bremen.

He was married Oct 3, 1911 Hattie Carbiener Weaver, who survives.

He was a former superintendent of the Church of the Brethren Home in Mexico, Ind and attended the North Manchester Academy and Betheny Seminary at Chicago. His former pastorates include Osceola, North Liberty, and several Michigan communities.

Surviving with his wife are four children: Sarah (Mrs Paul) Singrey, Elkhart; Velma (Mrs Robert) Scantlen, Coldwater, Mich; E Eugene Weaver, Livonia, Mich; and M Mark Weaver, Mentor, Ohio; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son George and one daughter Ruth.

Private services were conducted at 12:30 pm Sunday at Mishler Funeral Home of Bremen with Rev Jack Kline, pastor of the Church of the Brethren. Memorial services for the public were conducted Sunday at Elkhart City Church of the Brethren with the Rev Clarence Sink officiating.
