Pooler - Mr. Archie Cree Odom, Sr., 85, died on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family. The Tattnall County native had lived in Pooler since 1962. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pooler where he was a Deacon Emeritus and was a member of the Sam Elkins Sunday School Class. He retired from Union Camp and served his country during WW II. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Odom and a grandson, Barry Coleman and son-in-law, Bill Coleman, Sr. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Cleo Bailey Odom of Pooler; three children and their spouses, Gale and Tommy Brown of Pooler, Joe and Deborah Odom of Yuma, AZ and Archie, Jr. and Kristi Odom of Guyton; five grandchildren, Brian and Billy Coleman, Chris, Kori and Alexis Odom; seven great-grandchildren, Cory, Kyle, Ryan, Christopher and Madison Coleman and Devyv and Dylan Odom; brother, James E. Odom, Sr. of Guyton and several nieces and nephews. Visitation: 4:30-8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Pooler. Mr. Odom will lie in state from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at the Church. Graveside funeral: 4 p.m. on Sunday at Brannen Cemetery in Statesboro.
