Mary was born in Lakewood, an area that is home to many in the McKinley family. She was the great granddaughter of John and Jane (Steveson) McKinley. This line of McKinley's has established roots in the Lakewood area and many of the Illinois descendants of Mary's grandparents, Robert W. and Sarah (McKee) McKinley, spent significant time in Lakewood.

Mary is christened on 26 Aug 1893 in the Prosperity United Presbyterian Church, Sadowa, Randolph County, Illinois. She grows up in the Tilden area.

Mary marries Daniel Webster Blaylock on 23 Apr 1919 in Tilden. Daniel, born in Millheim, Perry County, Missouri, was a mining engineer. When tracking McKinley family members many of them are involved in mining as engineers. I'm assumming that Mary met Daniel because of these types of familial associations.

Mary and Daniel have only one child, a son, Daniel Webster Blaylock, Jr.

After their marriage, Mary and Daniel live in Edwardsville long enough to be enumerated on the 1920 and 1930 censuses. The Edwardsville Intelligencer has over 100 articles that detail Mary's bridge playing, Sunday school activities, and confirms her membership in the Eastern Stars.

By 1935, a city directory shows the Blaylock family living in Bethesda, Maryland. Additional records show the Blaylock family living in Lakewood, Ohio. I suspect the family splits their time between Bethesda and Lakewood. Daniel dies is Bethesda on 25 Nov 1958.

Mary dies in Silver Spring in 1989. Mary is sent home to Illinois for burial.
