Carmelita married George Henry Wood February 19, 1946 and they had 3 children. They divorced and she re-married to Gordon Haack (no children).

Carmelita worked at the Bank of California downtown Portland for many years. The photo was taken of her coming out of the bank after work.

Her son in law built a sub-division in Oregon City on their acreage, he named a street after her Carmelita Place. Unfortunately she never saw it as it was not finished before she passed away. It is just down the road from Samuel Vance's DLC and also a street named after him.

Carmelita was a very strong willed woman, yet kind and caring. She liked to sew and cook trying new recipes often. A caring Grandmother of 7 Grandchildren. She also loved her cat who stayed with her for a while when she was in the care facility before her death.

At her request she was buried with her son James (Jimmy). His death was very hard on her she never was able to accept the fact that he was gone.
