Novella Welch Abbott Hutchings, 86, of Kilmarnock died on Thursday, November 24, 2011. She was the widow of James T. Abbott, a member of Claybrook Baptist Church, the Lola Bryant Circle and the Virginia Retired Treasurers Association. Mrs. Hutchings was retired with 12 years of service as treasurer of Lancaster County and also served as the deputy treasurer prior to her election as county treasurer. Mrs. Hutchings was a member of the Rappahannock Rebekah Lodge # 14, Irvington Oddfellows Lodge # 205. Chapel Mobjack Lodge # 235, Mathews Encampment # 47, Norfolk Canton # 17 and Lynchburg Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband, George Edward Hutchings; two nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 27 at Claybrook Baptist Church, Weems with interment in the church cemetery. Friends may call 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday, November 26 at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock.
Memorials may be made to Rappahannock Rebekah Lodge # 14, 418 Bayridge Ave., Kilmarnock 22482.
