Gladys George is the oldest daughter of George E. Landon and Eielene Landon. She is buried in the family plot, in the Abingdon Cemetery. ABINGDON - Gladys E. Landon George, 66, Abingdon, died Sunday at 1:30 a.m. in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born in Abingdon Oct.22,1918. She married Fred Lund In 1938. After his death, she married Lester George in Kahoka, Mo., in 1943. Surviving are her husband; two sons, Jack Lund, Novata, Calif., and Mike George, Galesburg; three daughters, Barbara DeJaynes, Abingdon, Alice Williamson, London Mills, and Mary George, Galesburg; five brothers, Everett Landon, Abingdon, Lyle Landon, and Carl Landon, both of
Victoria, Rex Landon Tracey, Calif., and, Clyde Landon, Dahinda; five sisters, Grace Magnison of Upland, Calif., Clara Gilbert of Abingdon and Norma Roberts, Nellie Landon, and Georgia Davis, all of Galesburg; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was employed by Abingdon Blue Bell Manufacturing Co. for 30 years.
She worked at the Knox County Nursing Home and Gross Galesburg Products, retiring in 1975. She lived in the Knox County area all of her life and attended Abingdon schools. She was a member of the Abingdon Christian Church, the Mothers of World War II, and the Sunshine Club, and was a volunteer at the Abingdon Nursing Home.
Graveside service will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m..the Abingdon Cemetery, with the Rev. David Campbell officiating. Friends may call at the Larson Funeral Home, Abingdon, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
