Walter L. Butler, 87, of Shoals, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 8:50 a.m. at his residence in West Shoals.
He was born on December 22, 1923 in Lost River Township, Martin County, Indiana to Joel G. and Ethel (Hensler) Butler, and he married Betty Rose Abel on December 24, 1949 in Shoals.

Walter retired from the Soil Conservation Service with the Paoli and Jasper Offices. He was a member of the Shoals American Legion Post #61 and served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. He attended the Shoals United Methodist Church.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Betty of Shoals

Mary (Jones) and Bob Doane of Shoals
Nephews David and Dianne Butler and John Butler all of Shoals, and Alan and Kathleen Butler of St. Clair, MO.

Preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Bernice Butler Jones and Mable Butler, brothers Rev. Lloyd Butler, and in infancy John Howard and Robert Lowell Butler.
