Funeral: A memorial gathering to celebrate Thelma's life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Dalton & Son Funeral Home in Lewisville. Graveside service: afterward in McCurley Cemetery in Lewisville. Visitation: The family will receive guests 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Thelma Ethel Brown was born Nov. 24, 1906. Although her last days were lived in Richardson, she resided in Fort Worth from 1933 to 1997. While she had five birth children, she was a mother to many. She was also endearingly known as Moma, Moma Brown, Granny, GG, Mommie, Bertha, Grandmama, Mom and Mother. She graciously cared for the nursery of Sabine Place Baptist Church for over 17 years and also provided many years of child care at Dixie Heights Baptist Church. She celebrated a long life filled with love, children and laughter. Many hearts were touched by her presence.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Brown.
Survivors: Daughter, Mary Smith; stepdaughters, Lois Upchurch, Eva Blagg and Ruby Ragland; stepson, Elton Brown; and a myriad of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
