David Eugene "Pike" Bishop, 61, of Bloomington, passed away at his home on Tuesday evening, November 22, 2011.

David was born February 8, 1950 in Connersville, IN, the only son of the late Thomas Eugene and Beulah Phares Bishop. He spent his early life in Rushville, graduating from Rushville High School Class of 1968.

David enlisted with the US Army after high school and was a military policeman and served with the 101st Airborne Division. He was stationed in Hue City, South Vietman from late 1969 to November of 1970. David earned a bronze star and a purple heart while serving our country.

After returning from war, David obtained his degree in journalism from Indiana University and settled in the Bloomington area. He was an independent contractor for the CIA, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Order of DeMolay, was passionate about history and traveling. He spent winters in the Carribbean.

He leaves behind a sister, Nancy Lynne & husband Richard Smith of Lake Wylie, SC, a nephew, Alexander Bishop Smith and niece, Allison Rebecca Smith.

Services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, November 29 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville where friends are welcome to visit from 11 AM until time of service.

Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery.
Military honors will be observed at the cemetery.

Memorial contribution may be made to the Wonder Lab in Bloomington, IN. Envelopes will be available at the mortuary.

I only re-connected with David during this past year on Facebook. We shared many memories of Rushville High during the 60s. My deepest sympathy to all of his friends and family.
