Caroline was the daughter of Charles Allen Pitkin & Henrietta Charlotte Lockwood. She married first in 1901 at San Jose, California, to Norman Richard Coulter (1875-1959); two children: Therese Lockwood Coulter (1902-1987) and Richard Pitkin Coulter (1905-1943). Caroline & Norman divorced, and she kept their two small children.

She married second on January 1, 1910 at San Jose, CA, to Leonard Napoleon Brock, born 4 September 1872 at Little Rock, Arkansas; died 21 June 1952 at San Jose, CA.; no children. In the 1940 census of San Jose, Leonard, age 67, was an elevator operator in a bank building.

Caroline was an accomplished local painter and gardener. Her artwork included floral stilllifes and landscapes. She was nicknamed The Lavender Lady due to her penchant for that color, often wearing it from head to toe---hat to shoes.
