Sarah Emma Carpenter was the daughter of Sampson Carpenter and his wife, the former Lucretia V. Smith. She was always known as "Emma."

She married Robert E. Lafayette Stanley in Coffee County on 16 Jan 1890. They had seven known children, all born and reared in Covington County.

MRS. R.L. STANLEY PASSES SUNDAY

The death angel called at the home of R.L. Stanley's Sunday morning, February 11 at 8 o'clock, and carried away the wife and mother to that happy home above.

Mrs. Stanley was before her marriage, Emma Carpenter, the daughter of Samps Carpenter. She had been married to R.L. Stanley 43 years when her death came. She leaves to mourn her death, her husband, five sisters and two brothers, four sons and three daughters. The sons are, Clifton, Sam, Otis, and Obie Dee Stanley. The daughters are, Mrs. B.C. Cauley of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; Mrs. John Sumlin, of Winter Park, Fla.; and Mrs. O.T. Stapleton, of Sublette, Kansas.
Interment was made at Cool Springs with Rev. Jack Mitchell officiating. Patrick in charge.
