Mr. Gatton was born in Bellville, March 2, 1895, the son of James and Alice Hildenbrand Gatton, and had lived in this area all his life. For many years he was employed at the Mansfield Tire and Rubber Company, serving as employment manager. Eight years ago he retired from the plant to open The News Store. He was a member of the Mayflower Congregational Church and the Mansfield Lodge No. 35, F & A. M.
Surviving are his wife, Maude Della Lett Gatton; and one brother, Arnold Gatton of Coshocton.
Funeral services will be conducted at the J.H. Finefrock & Sons Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Saturday by his pastor, Rev. A.F. Lindbeck. Burial will be in the Mansfield Cemetery.
