Patsy attended Ponca City schools, graduating in 1952. Patsy and her high school sweetheart Wilfred Hicks were married on July 30, 1952, by Rev. Max Armitage of Second Baptist Church of Ponca City. They had two loving children, daughter Zelda and son Vaughn. Wilfred passed away in 1975. She spent her adulthood as a homemaker, raising her children, and caring for her husband during his illness. Patsy worked later in life for 20 years at Neil's Clothing. Patsy had a very giving heart and would help anyone anyway she could. One Christmas season she personally wrapped over 500 gifts for the Toys for Kids Drive in Ponca City. S he enjoyed all animals very much, having said that her first pet during her youth was a goat. Her hobbies included working jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles, flea markets, country music, and making handmade crafts. Patsy loved decorating for the holidays and each Christmas would turn her household into a winter wonderland. Patsy was a fun, creative, talented woman. She was always full of energy and ready to laugh. She will be very missed.
Patsy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Sue Cox.
She is survived by son Vaughn of Ponca City, daughter and son-in-law Zelda and Barry Gabbert of Ponca City, brother-in-law Daryl Cox of Ponca City, and sister-in-law Darlene Hicks of Tucson AZ; nieces and nephews Brenda, Kathleen, Donna, James, Aaron, Scott, and Brian.
