John Alexander was born Oct. 7, 1936, in Iola, Kansas and died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997, at his home. He was the son of Alvin and Mary Copening Alexander. He moved to Tonganoxie in 1972 from Lawrence, Kansas. He retired from Southwestern Bell, Kansas City, Kansas in 1989, where he was a switchman. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lawrence, and Kansas Trap Shooters Assn., where he was the former president and a current director. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Heimsoth Alexander.
Survivors include two daughters, a sister, and two grandchildren. Quisenberry Funeral Home in Tonganoxie was in charge of arrangements. Services were at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lawrence. Burial in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.
