CEMIAH J. CUSTER, AGED 77, SUCCUMBS AT HOME IN WINDBER
Cemiah J. Custer, 77, one of Windber's oldest and best-known residents, died at 12:40 o'clock yesterday afterrnoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Cora Allison of 207 Eleventh Strret, Windber. Mr. Custer's death terminated an illness of several months of a complication of ailments. He was born in Cambria County, March 2, 1862, a son of Joseph and Margaret (Rhotenheafer) Custer. His wife, Mrs. Mary Jane (Cravner) Custer, died 15 years ago. Surviving are these children: Amanda, wife of Thomas Richards, Bedford County; Pearl, wife of Thomas E. Snyder, Windber; Josiah Custer, Geistown; Amy, wife of Jacob Yoder, and Margaret, wife of Harry L. Horner, both of Paint Township; Mrs. Allison, with whom he resided; Clara, wife of Frank Helsel, Elton; Elmer Custer, Windber; Dorsey Custer, Sidman, and Earl Custer, Bedford County. He also leaves 29 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and these brothers and sisters: Donald Custer, Windber; Mrs. Elias Shaffer, Hooversville; Mrs. Frank Hoover, Salix; Mrs. Rachael Hoffman and Mrs. J. E. Fyock, both of Scalp Level. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Meek Funeral Home, Windber, by Rev. E. M. Hertzler, pastor of the East End Church of the Brethren, Windber. Interment will eb in Berkey Cemetery, Somerset County. The remains will be taken to the Allison home today and will be removed to the Meek Funeral Home at 10 a. m. tomorrow.
