Adah Averyt, age 86, a former resident of Edgewater, died Friday, February 3, 2012, in Prescott, Arizona. Born in Sunnyside, Washington, Mrs. Averyt came to this area in 1995 from Panama City, Florida, and moved to Dewey, Arizona to be with her son in 2011. A retired teacher, she was a member of the Edgewater Alliance Church. Survivors include three sons, Arlan of Dewey, Arizona, Ronald G. of Severn, Maryland, and Raymond G. of Columbus, Georgia; a brother, Walter Hixson of Lodi, California; two sisters, Anita Roberts of Meridian, Idaho, and Naomi Alldridge of South Africa; three grandchildren, Andrea, Andrew, and Zachary. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Glen Eugene Averyt, in 2004. Her funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 16 at the Settle-Wilder New Smyrna Beach Chapel, with Pastor Kyle McQuillen, Edgewater Alliance Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will be in Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, Edgewater.
