His wife preceded him April 3, 1906. He made confession and united with the Christian church in St. Charles, Mo., when a young man. He came to the Odessa neighborhood about 40 years ago, and lived on a farm where the town of Odessa is location. 19 years ago he came from Odessa to Mayview, where he lived to the time of his death. He was the ruling Elder of his church. He was called grandpa or uncle Charlie by everyone. He always had a pleasant word for all. He loved to tell harmless jokes and was always in a reminiscent mood and if he could not say a good word for anyone, he kept still. He was always happiest when he could attend his church and attend the communion services. He lived a faithful christian life. "Grandpa" is dead, though this is but to say he has entered into life. We sorrow at his passing from home and church, but we thank God that we had him with us so long. The funeral sermon was preached by Elder F.M. Rico, of Bunceton, Mo., March 22, 1916, at 11 o'clock in the Christian church after which his body was taken to Odessa and laid away to rest in its beautiful cemetery beside his wife to await the Judgment Day.Thos.
