Inez R. Muenster, age 96, of Kiel, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at Oak Creek Assisted Living, Kiel.

She was the former Inez Hertel, born Aug. 3, 1915, in Kiel, daughter of the late Robert and Josephine (Klotz) Hertel.

Inez attended Kiel Elementary Grade School and was a 1933 graduate of Kiel High School.

On Sept. 17, 1938, Inez married Frederick Muenster at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. Her husband Fritz preceded her in death on April 9, 1989. During World War II she was a secretary at the U.S. Naval Torpedo Station, Newport R.I. and the Naval Housing Unit at Port Orchard, Wash. She retired as a secretary for AA Laun Furniture Co., Kiel, in 1981 after 47 years.

Inez was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel. She was instrumental in the foundation and served as the first President of the Kiel Badger Tri-County V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #6707 and held the office as Secretary-Treasurer for the Kiel Municipal Band from 1953-1984. Inez loved her secretarial jobs as well as a good beer!

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Marie Muenster, New Holstein; Mary Muenster, rural New Holstein; first cousins, Earl (Marlene) Klotz, New Holstein; Allen (Rita) Klotz, rural New Holstein; and Ken (Eleanor) Klotz, New Holstein. She is further survived by two godchildren, Jim Klotz and George Ronk; close friends, Arlene Caffcey, Carolyn Vanderkin, Marlene Frauenfeld; and many friends.

The funeral Mass for Inez will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Kiel, with the Rev. Loren Nys, S.D.S. officiating and Joe Zenk, Parish Director, assisting. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
