Son of Joseph Burch (b. 1758, in Georgia-d. 1811, in Georgia) and Gilley Willcox Burch (b. 1776, in Georgia-d. 1850)

According to the 1880 United States Census, for Laurens County, Georgia, enumeration district 64, page 542B, Alfred Burch (1811-1894), a son of Joseph Burch (1758-1818) and his (2nd) wife Gilley Wilcox, identified "Georgia", as the birthplace of his parents.

Friday, June 15, 1894 -- A Good Man Gone
Mr. Alfred Burch, father of Mr. M. L. Burch and grandfather of Col. Harlow Burch, two of Eastman's most prominent and highly respected citizens, died at his home in Laurens county on the 6th of June, instant. The deceased had reached the ripe old age of eighty-three years and leaves a large and respected posterity all of whom are honored and prosperous citizens of Dodge and Laurens counties, with whom the Times-Journal condoles in their sore bereavement.

His obituary appeared in the Times - Journal, the newpaper for Dodge County, Georgia.

Alfred Burch was born on May 16, 1811, in Georgia. Alfred was a farmer. He married Sarah L. S. Parrish. Sarah was born on May 6, 1810, in Georgia. In 1850, Alfred and Sarah lived in District 393, in Montgomery County, Georgia. At the time, Alfred's land was valued at $525. On December 1, 1853, Alfred bought land lot 21 (202 acres), land lot 11 (202 acres), and 75 acres of land lot 10, from Michael Livingston of Laurens County, Georgia, for $1500. This land was located in the 13th District of Laurens County. On the same day, Alfred bought land lot 20, 202 acres of land, from Michael Livingston, for $100. This land was also located in the 13th District of Laurens County. Sarah L. S. (Parrish) Burch died on April 21, 1854, when her son, Benjamin, was born. She was buried in Burch Cemetery, in Laurens County, Georgia. On January 18, 1855, Alfred married Nancy B. (McRae) McLennan, a widow, in Montgomery County. Nancy was born on September 19, 1816, in Georgia. She had previously been married to Kenneth McLennan. He had died about 1843, in Montgomery County. Nancy and Kenneth had 4 children; Daniel, Duncan, Alexander, and Kenneth M. In 1850, Nancy owned land valued at $600, in District 393, in Montgomery County. Between 1853 and 1860, Alfred acquired land in Laurens County, Georgia. In 1860, Alfred and Nancy resided in Laurens County. At the time, Alfred owned 2,000 acres of land (80 acres were improved), which was valued at $4,000. In 1860, Alfred owned 6 slaves. In 1870, Alfred and Nancy continued to live, in Laurens County. At the time, Alfred's land was valued at $2,325. By 1880, Alfred and Nancy resided in Pinetuckey, in District 343, in Laurens County. Nancy B. (McRae, McLennan) Burch died on July 28, 1893. She was buried in Burch Cemetery, in Laurens County. Alfred Burch died on June 6, 1894. He was buried in Burch Cemetery.
