Betty was born December 14, 1940 to Chester & Esther (Campbell) Arbogast in Miller, SD. She graduated from St. Lawrence High School.
On February 21, 1959 Betty married Edwin Allerdings in Pierre, SD. They started their lives in St. Lawrence and later moved to a farm northeast of Wessington prior to moving into Wessington where they lived until Edwin passed away in 1983. Betty lived in Pierre and Gregory before moving to Wessington Springs for the last several years of her life.
They had four children, Deb Allerdings & Alan DuBois, Wessington,SD, Doug & Jean Allerdings, Alta, Iowa, Lori Caffee and Kevin Geidel of Wessington Springs, SD and David Allerdings & Maria Swartz of Annapolis, MD. Eight grandchildren, Thomas, Paul & Andrew Allerdings, Jeff, Krista Stuessi & Jamie Caffee, and Ryan & Austin Allerdings and 3 great grandchildren, Bryce Robinson, Alyvia Allerdings and Kennedy Caffee in addition another great grandson is due next week.
Betty worked as a homemaker and mother until moving into Wessington where she cooked at the Wessington Community School, worked for the City of Wessington and worked several odd jobs. In her last years she was self employed as a seamstress – and loved making pajamas and other articles and sold them to people in several states.
