William ST LEGER's death is recorded in 1582, aged 56, in a "Military Caste" pedigree published on-line; he may not have been buried at Ulcombe, as it appears that he was disinherited by his father, and may have gone to live in Ireland (where his two known children made marriages); however, he is mentioned in a number of documents held in the Archives of Canterbury Cathedral, concerning the Manor of Belgar, Kent, including one of two "final concords" dated Hilary Term, vii Eliz (1564-65) concerning the sale of the Manor to Edmond, Arthur and William MIDDLETON by William ST LEGER of Bilsington, Kent, and "...his wife Sibil"; and another, also concerning the Belgar sale, dated x Eliz (1568), being another final concord between Edmund and Arthur MIDDLETON, and William and his brothers Sir Warham and Nicholas ST LEGER.
William was married to Isabel KEYES, said to have been the daughter of Thomas KEYES, Sergeant-Porter to the Court of Queen Elizabeth.
William and Isabel had other issue:
2. Warham ST LEGER, born at Doneraile, 1560; killed in battle with Hugh MAGUIRE, at or near Cork, 1599; he was married to Elizabeth WROTHE, widow of Humphrey MACKWORTH and of Henry DAVELLS, with issue.
