Leo A. Smith, age 83, of Provo, died November 14, 2005, in Nephi. He was born March 23, 1922 in Beaver, Utah to Gilbert and Viola Patterson Smith.
Leo graduated from Beaver High School. He served in the 8th Army Air Corps during WWII. He worked at Geneva Steel (U.S. Steel) as Pipe Fitter, retiring after 35 years.
He married Francis Pulsipher in Beaver, Utah in 1946. Together they had two children. They were later divorced. He married Bette Goodfellow in 1955 in Beaver, Utah. Together they had two children. She preceded him in death on October 18, 2001.
Leo was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed carpentry, spur and bridle making, and made handcrafted knives. He loved helping other people.
He is survived by one son and two daughters; Richard Leo (Annette) Smith of Nephi, UT; Carma (Jimmy) Hall of Provo, UT; and Trudy (Roland) Dalley of Provo, UT; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Lauree Stevens of Roy, UT. He was preceded in death by his wife, four sons, his parents, two brothers and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 17, 2005 at 1:00 p.m., at the Freedom 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 920 South Freedom Blvd., Provo. Friends may call at the Ward Chapel from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
