OBITUARY: "Sierra Vist Herald", pubished 5/21/2008 -- Virginia A. (Wojcik) O’Brien, 93, of Bisbee, Ariz., passed away in Scottsdale, Ariz., on May 15, 2008. Born in Albany, Texas on Nov. 2, 1914, at age 2 she arrived in Bisbee with her parents Frank and Marie Wojcik and lived there her entire life with the exception of two years in Yucca, Ariz., as a young bride and the last five years in Scottsdale with her daughter and granddaughter.

She married James O’Brien in 1931. He preceded her in death in 1987. While her husband served in the Navy, she worked as a nurse’s aide during World War II. She was employed by Cochise City Credit Bureau and the Court House in the Recorder’s Office. She also worked for Phelps Dodge Mercantile for more than 22 years in the accounts payable department for the Bisbee and Warren stores.

She is survived by a son, James Paul and his wife, Gwen; a daughter, Pat McKinley and granddaughter, Michele McKinley; sister, Vlasta Mihelich; brother, Raymond; and several nieces and nephews. Her brother, Vlada (Frank) preceded her in death.

A memorial mass will be offered at St. Patrick’s church in Bisbee on Saturday, May 24, 2008, with the Rev. Joseph Saba officiating. Private burial will follow. Instead of flowers, those wishing to may send donations in memory of Virginia O’Brien to St. Patrick Church Building Fund. Arrangements by Dugan Funeral Chapel, Bisbee.
