Services were held last Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City for Catherine Frances Schaefer, 94, of Jefferson City, a native of Frankenstein. The Rev. Louis Dorn conducted the funeral for Mrs. Schaefer, who died November 21 at a Jefferson City nursing home. Burial was at Resurrection Cemetery in Jefferson City. Mrs. Schaefer was born February 1 1899, to Henry and Louise Klute Backes. She was married Feb 6 1917, at Frankenstein to Steve Schaefer, who died in 1984. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Peter parish and its Married Women's Sodality and the WW I Veterans Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Schaefer of Jeff City and Edgar Schaefer of Independence; a daughter, Ida Yackow of Alexandria, Virginia; a sister, Bertha Jaegers of Linn; 22 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren, a step grandchild and a step great grandchild. Another daughter, Iona Branson, preceded her in death.
