On December 20, 1917, he married Evelyn Weir Smyth, the daughter of Herbert Weir Smyth of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Sometime between 1930 and 1940 they divorced with Evelyn remarried to Martin Griswald by the 1940 census. On February 23, 1940, he married Mrs. Helen Poor Cate of Cambridge.

He died on July 12, 1985 at Plymouth, Massachusetts at the age of 92 years. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles Ashmead Fuller of Washington, D.C. Survivors included his daughter, Claire Fuller Emien of New York City; two stepsons: William C. Cate of Cambridge, Massachusetts and Philip T. Cate Jr. of Santa Fe, New Mexico and 10 grandchildren. A memorial service was held at a later date.
