Winnie Faye Hines

DE LEON -- Winnie Faye Hines, 92, of De Leon, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at her residence in De Leon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at Nowlin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Acton Cemetery in Hood County under the direction of Nowlin Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.


Mrs. Hines was born on Aug. 14, 1911, in Godley, Texas, the daughter of the late Will Wels and Cora Hunter Wels. She married H. H. Davis, who preceded her in death and later, Emmit Shipps, who also preceded her in death. She married G. A. (Allen) Hines on Nov. 20, 1982, in Gorman, Texas. She was a nurse, a homemaker and a horselady and had resided in De Leon since 1985, coming from Gorman. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gorman.


Survivors include her husband, Allen Hines, of De Leon, three sons, Ray Shipps, of De Leon; Everett Davis, of Granbury, and Charles Davis, of Gainesville; two stepsons, Wendell Hines, of Houston and Charles Hines, of Brenham; daughter, Betty Anderson, of Dublin; two stepdaughters, Teresa Bauman, of Valley Springs and Francis Lobb, of Houston; sister, Willie Russell, of Cleburne; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by two sisters, Inez Jackson and Ollie Stekley.
