Fred G Hurley, 61, well-known local mail carrier, died in the United States Veterans' hospital at Whipple, Ariz., Saturday, following a long illness. He was born Feb 19, 1881, in Nebraska. He enlisted there in the U. S. army serving two enlistments of three years each prior to May 18, 1917, when he enlisted for World War I. He served with the headquarters company, 1st U. S. infantry, as a corporal in the band and was a talented musician. He was discharged Jan. 20, 1919, at the Presidio, Calif. He was a member of the Wenatchee Post, No. 10, American Legion.
Surviving are one son, Robert Hurley, U. S. Army, Hawaii, and one daughter, Miss Betty Jean Hurley, Rogue River, Ore. Funeral services will be announced by Jones & Jones, with burial in the American Legion plot in the Wenatchee cemetery.
