He was born in Hoschton, Georgia, the son of the late P.W. and Alma Hosch
Vaughn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Digby Vaughn. He was a
life-long resident of Williamson, Georgia and a member of the First Christian
Church (Disciples of Christ) in Griffin, Georgia.

He served with the Eighth Air Force Weather Corps during WWII, and his role as a
weatherman aided in the timing of D-Day. That the weather prediction of the
Allied Forces was accurate provided him with the satisfaction of meaningful
service to his country. He wore his WWII Air Force uniform at Veteran's Day and
Memorial Day commemorations through his 95th year.

He graduated from Pike County High School in Zebulon, Georgia and from
Oglethorpe University in Atlanta after studying painting. He was Post Master at
Williamson, Georgia for many years. He enjoyed history, gardening, golf, and ham
radio. His ham radio call letters were "WA4FST".

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Paul William (Bill) Vaughn,
III and his wife, Carol of Sharpsburg, Georgia and Dottie Vaughn Vincent and the
Late Paul Vincent of Shelby, NC; four grandchildren, Maggie Vaughn Fisher,
Melissa Vaughn Moore, Andrew Paul Vincent, and Alex Vaughn Vincent and a
great-grandson William (Will) Robert Fisher; sister, Miriam Vaughn Tucker of
Chattanooga, TN; brother-in-law, Arthur Digby and several beloved nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel Russell Vaughn and
George Hosch Vaughn.
