Jefferson City News-Tribune (MO) - Tuesday, May 26, 2009:

Clifford Frank Rackers, 94, of Jefferson City, died Friday, May 22, 2009, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born on Dec. 7, 1914, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of the late William A. and Elizabeth M. Bellman Rackers. He was married on Nov. 30, 1946, in Jefferson City to Elizabeth Margaret Botz who died on Sept. 17, 2005.

Mr. Rackers retired in 1983, as Vice-President of Customer Service at Central Trust Bank where he had been employed for over 50 years. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving at the Panama Canal and with the Fourteenth Air Force in China for which he received two Bronze Stars. He received his education at Immaculate Conception Catholic School and Jefferson City High School.

Mr. Rackers was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral in recent years, and previously was a long-time member of St. Peter Catholic Church and its Men's Organization. He was a member of Roscoe Enloe American Legion Post 5; Roy Sone Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 1003; 14th Air Force Association; A.A.R.P.; Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693; and a life member of Helias Council 1054, Knights of Columbus. Mr. Rackers was known for his civic affairs and also enjoyed photography and woodworking.

Survivors include one son, Steve R. Rackers, Jefferson City; two daughters and their husbands, Nancy M. and Charles Larm, Boonville, Mo.; and Mary A. and John Oetting, O'Fallon, Mo.; one grandson, Jason Oetting, O'Fallon, Mo.; one brother, Raymond Rackers, Jefferson City; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, William A.J. Rackers; and three sisters, Myrene Fulk, Agnes Walther, and Georgia Rackers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph with the Rev. Msgr. Donald W. Lammers officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Samaritan Center, 1310 E. McCarty Street, Jefferson City, MO 65101; Masses; or a charity of the donor's choice. Those wishing to email tributes or condolences to the family may do so at the www.dulletrimble.com website.
