Rose Sullivan, 98, passed away on November 5, 2011 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church with burial following at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Des Moines.

Rose was born on February 19, 1913 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Michael and Josephine Pagano, immigrants from Luca, Sicily. She married Louis Sullivan on June 2, 1935 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Des Moines. Louis and Rose operated Sully's Restaurant on the eastside and at the Iowa State Fair for many years.

She loved to sew and create quilts, also baby quilts, and donate them to Haiti, New Orleans, and Amanda the Panda. She taught sewing classes at St. Theresa. She also loved to embroider, cook and bake and invite her friends and family into her home for holiday celebrations and special Easter breakfasts.

Rose will be missed by her children, Paul (Gladys) Sullivan; Patricia Milligan; Chuck Sullivan; brother, Phillip Pagano; two brother-in-laws, Dr. Daniel Sullivan and Edward Sullivan; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Sullivan; parents; daughter, Rosemary Shafer; sisters, Jenny DePhillips, Annie Papian, Mary Rose Pagano, and Margaret Coppi-Plummer; brothers, Leo and Charles Pagano; son-in-law, Russell Milligan; and infant grandson, Danny Milligan.

The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Rosary on Wednesday, November 9, at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel.
