Mrs. Mary Frances Bisb(e)y was born at Milford, Conn, October 25, 1843; died at Del Norte, Colo., Saturday, October 7, 1911; aged 67 years, 11 months and 11 days.
Mary Frances Read-Bisb(e)y spent her girlhood in New England and later went to Kansas, at a time when that plainsland was a far frontier state. Here she was united in marriage to C. E. Bisb(e)y and to this union there came sevenchildren, five of which survive the mother: Mrs. L. O. Barber; J. Joe and George L. of Sisters, Oregon;Charles Allen of Pleasant Home, Idaho; and Mrs. Harry McCarthy of La Garita, Colo. She came with the family to Del Norte in 1876 and while some of the time since that date has been spent away from this city, principally in the Northwest, it was been her home. She returned here last spring and thereupon made arrangements to remain. Shortly after becoming located in her home, she became ill, and after receiving it was decided that she was suffering from cancer of the liver, and this incurable trouble had been slowly fastening itself on to its victim for months past. Although sorely afflicted she bore up bravely [but] her spirit finally was set free from the pain-racked body on the day and date above given.
The deceased was an active member of the Presbyterian church of this city and righteous living and upright dealings were her life's motto. As a wife and mother, and duties therefrom arising, her life was full and she faithfully carried out the highest mission decreed by the Maker that women can fill.
She goes to receive the reward of a life well-lived. To the husband and children, sincere sympathy is extended in their great loss.
