On December 25, Mrs. Mary Riddle , wife of James P. Riddle, called way by death and on January 1, one week later, Mr Riddle also called away. Latter was in his 89th year. Well known through the county having served as County Commissioner a number of years. His parents were Robert and Catherine Phipps Riddle of the old pioneer stock. Teacher in early life, took great interest in education. Five children were also teachers. Survived by one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Calvert of Clinton township and by following children: Hon. Frank Riddle of Kansas; Miss Elizabeth Riddle of Cyrus; Mrs. Ellen Hayes of Oakland; Mrs. Catherine Anderson of Butler county and Miss Ann and Joseph P. at old homestead.
The death of James P. Riddle, Sr., occurred at late home in Scrubgrass township, 9:30p.m. Wednesday from infirmities of old age, being 88 past. Wife died Christmas night. Funeral Friday.
