WED 54 YEARS

Delhi, Ia., Nov. 3 – Special: On Saturday, Oct. 31, Mr. and Mrs. John N. Smith, residents of Delhi for nearly all their wedded life, celebrated their fifty-fourth wedding anniversary at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Elisha Barker, in Manchester. Forty-nine relatives were present on this happy occasion and helped to prepare and serve a bounteous picnic dinner at the noon hour.

On Oct. 31, 1877, Miss Anna Keith and Mr. John N. Smith were married at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Keith, just south of Delhi, near Buck Creek, by the Rev. Thompson, who was formerly Methodist pastor at Delhi, Buck Creek and Hopkinton. During all these intervening years, Mr. and Mrs. Smith have been residents of Delaware, except a few years they spent in Texas. They have resided near or in Delhi the greater part of the time and it is here that their 11 children have grown to manhood and womanhood. For the past two years Mr. and Mrs. Smith have lived with their children because of frail health. Their children are; Alva, Central City; Mrs. George Lee, Masonville; Mrs. Ed. Sheppard; Mrs. P. E. Keith, and Mrs. Glenn Pelton, all of Delhi; Mrs. Elisha Barker, Archie, and Mrs. Clare Darrow, all of Manchester; Martin, Lamont; Silas, Masonville; and George McGregor.
