Lucy Meyer Bruxvoort was born to Peter and Grace Venter Meyer June 6, 1899 near Edgerton, Minnesota. The family farmed in the Leota and Chandler area until they moved into Chandler in 1915.
Lucy and Henry Bruxvoort were married in Chandler on January 6, 1920. Their marriage was blessed with five children.
They farmed in the Chandler area until moving into Chandler in 1969.
Henry passed away May 27, 1980.
Lucy was a member of the Chandler Reformed Church where she was active in the Ladies group and also taught Sunday School. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and making quilts.
She passed away at the Luverne Community Hospital July 8, 1996 at the age of 97 years one month and two days.
She is survived by one son Harvey, Chandler, four daughters: Dorothy (Mrs. John) Moret, Slaughters, KY; Nellie (Mrs. Wallace) Deerfield, Chandler; Pauline (Mrs. Dick) Blom, Leota; and Frances (Mrs. Jim) Veldkamp, Luverne.
Also surviving are three sisters, Martha Wubs, Chicago, IL, Jen De Boer, Leota, Nell Pool, Edgerton, 17 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry, three brothers, Ray, Abel and Martin, a sister Grace Kapel, one grandchild and two great grandchildren.
