Lester, as he was known, was the eldest child of William Samuel and Mary Ella [nee Woodward] Keenen. Family lore says that of the five children of Wm. & Mary Ella, Lester was the 'black sheep'. He married, but abandoned his family and was thought to be an alcoholic. He also lost a leg, but it is not known how or when this occured.
He married Laura J. Haffelfinger in 1902 at Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania. They had 4 children: Stella Mary Keenen.; Harry R. Keenen; Francis Roy Keenen and Ida Alberta Keenen.
